I have been really happy with Ruddock. I am generally a huge fan of him though. I love his work rate. He just gets on with it.

I understood Farrell picking Stander at 6 and seeing him as a better carrier then Ruddock and wanting to go in that direction but he immediately reverted to POM when Doris went down early in the Scottish match and selected him to start at 6 for the next two games. POM has done a lot of great things for Ireland (others might disagree) but he was the guy who looked like he was out of form this season and when he is in form he is hardly regarded as a carrier and tends to make very few tackles. So it sounds like Farrell (who I am also a fan of) was saying one thing to Ruddock while practicing something else in picking POM.

Anyway I would start him at 6 for this game, no doubt.

Farrell told Ruddock that his work rate was fine but he wasn't impactful enough. IIRC from his interview with Luke. Think thats true to an extent. There are more impactful backrows than Ruddock.

just seen the previous post that broke down Ruddock's interview and his performance

I'd start Fardy over Ruddock and maybe Leavy or Conan.

Is there a reason we have to play in Lansdowne ? would make much more sense to play in RDS or do we have to stay with nominated stadium

All the other games are listed as the higher seeds home ground eg Clermont at SMM and Exeter at Sandy PArk. Maybe the hope is by then we can get some fans in?

I'd say we're staying at Lansdowne because if the social distancing is reduced to 1 metre by then we'd be able to get about 18.5k in to see the game

The query was based on no fans attending, RDS would be more favoured ground for our lads

We possible have already agreed to use the stadium for this game, and so would be breaching contract if we moved it.

Would it? Without supporters it matters not a jot.

Our players are equally familiar with the Aviva, and with it's increased facilities and internal space it is a safer environment too

Also consider the higher standard of facilities for the media in the aviva.
