As discussed by Cullen with media after the game, the Round 5 game against Ospreys was a bruising encounter and a number of players will be managed this week as a result.

Harry Byrne and Rory O’Loughlin fall into that category with both replaced with knocks. Byrne picked up a dead leg and O’Loughlin took a knock to his shoulder but both are due to be available for selection this week should they come through training.

However the news isn’t as positive for Tommy O’Brien who was replaced with an ankle injury (syndesmosis) and will have a procedure this week ruling him out for between six and eight weeks.

Jack Conan has also rejoined the Leinster Rugby squad in UCD this week having been released by the IRFU. Unfortunately Jack has a neck injury which requires further assessment.

Seán Cronin (thumb), Ryan Baird (adductor) and Tadhg Furlong (calf) will once again this week step up their rehabilitation and their training load and will again be assessed as the week progresses.

Jaysus if both TOB and Frawley are injured we're going to be very short on centre cover. Come back Joe, all is forgiven!

I wonder might we chance Hawkshaw at 12 or put ROL in there and Turner at 13.

That doesn't sound great on Conan either.

For the approx 2 weeks where we had to think about accommodating 9 backrows for forever it didn’t take much .

We could be struggling with Deegan and Conan out and Stander bumped out the IrelandXX111 for now.

If ROL and Harry Byrne are still injured what’s the back line gonna be?
9 McGrath? 10 Hawkshaw? 11 DK? 12 Turner? 13 JOB? 14 Cian Kelleher? 15 HOS?
That would pretty much be the only decent option we’d have left

He came on 3 times at 15 for Leinster and finished the last game at 15 he didn’t seem to make any mistakes, he’s a lot of experience at 15 at schools level

far different covering 15 off the bench for injuries than starting there.

JOB will be starting at 15 unless injured. If not him then Silvester.

From Russ Petty on Twitter:

"Leinster's previous 10 games at the RDS in Pro14 = scored 53, 40, 50, 54, 54, 36, 55, 35, 63, 50 points"

Tip of the hat to Cian Kelleher, he's doing an inverse Fionn Carr. The talent and athleticism was always there, but he has really upped his appetite for work and looks to be in great shape.

Last time Leinster scored less than 30 points in the RDS was v Munster in May 2019 (PRO14 semi final) - it’s also the last game in the RDS where they didn’t get a bonus point. That’s 13 bonus point wins in a row (both league and cup)

He's doing really, really well. Physical, looking for work all the time and his acceleration must be up there with best in the squad.

There is good news on a number of fronts from the game at the weekend as Ryan Baird came through his first game back from injury (adductor) with no issues and will train as normal this week.

Similarly both Seán Cronin (thumb) and Rory O’Loughlin (shoulder) have recovered from injury and will train as normal this week.

Unfortunately there was less positive news for Ciarán Parker who injured his thumb in the game against Edinburgh Rugby and requires a procedure this week and he will as a result be unavailable for selection for a number of weeks.

There was similarly less positive news for Tadhg Furlong who hasn’t progressed as the physio team would have liked from his calf injury and will not be available for selection.

Finally there was no new update on the following players who remain unavailable for selection: Tommy O’Brien (ankle), Jack Conan (neck), Conor O’Brien (hamstring), Garry Ringrose (jaw), Max Deegan (knee), Jordan Larmour (shoulder), Vakh Abdaladze (back) and Adam Byrne (hamstring).
