Leinster Rugby Mount Rushmore

Post by mildlyinterested »

Who are the 4 players or coaches that make up your Leinster Mount Rushmore?

I'd probably go with Leo Cullen, Isa Nacewa, Brian O'Driscoll & Jonny Sexton.

near misses: Michael Cheika, Joe Schmidt, Sean O'Brien, Shane Jennings, Cian Healy, Gordon Darcy, Shane Horgan, Rob Kearney, Girvan Dempsey, Jamie Heaslip.

I saw Ollie Le Roux play in Parc y Scarlets in the pissing rain. A match we normally would've packed up and gone home at half time. He was critical in changing the club.

He should be there.

I named my dog after him.

plenty of players have good cases, but does can't justify putting Ollie ahead of the 4 I named.

Ha, same here! I'm assuming you called your dog Ollie rather than Le Roux? :D

He's getting on a bit now too, the vet was referring to him as a geriatric at his last visit.

Drico, Darce, Jamie and Isa. That assuming Davey Hollwell's brief period with us doesn't qualify him. Assume none of these have links to slavery?

If you split it to a homegrown and a foreign one:

homegrown: Cullen, Sexton, BOD, Horgan.

foreign: Isa, Felipe, Elsom, Fardy.

Surprised to see nobody mention Big Mal.

I'd struggle to pick four. Mal, Jennings, Leo, BOD, Isa, Sexton, Heaslip. They'd be the DNA guys, I'd carve into the cliff.

There are a few guys under 30 that will likely make it there.
There are many more that had hugely important roles in the story: Reggie, Hickie, D'Arcy, SOB, Kearney, Girve...you could go on forever.
We've been fortunate to have had three or four coaches for a few years that made huge impacts and players for one or two seasons, like Elsom or Fardy.

BO'D, Joe, Isa, Leo

Very difficult choices. Listed in order they chronologically "qualified".
