Double points for RWC games as far as I know.
This is all true but not what was asked. :)

OK Seeing as no one else has bothered. Ireland fell from 4th to 8th during August 2011 after losing to Scotland, France (twice) and England.

All of these were WC warm up games and DO count as test matches and ranking games

QED. (Took me 3 minutes on the World Rugby site)

In a funny way losing to Wales may do us a favour. Carrying an unbeaten run through these games and into the WC could have been distracting, and given us a false sense of our own importance.
This is the silver lining I squint to keep sight of as I curse Wayne Barnes to an eternity of fiery torture
Declan Kidney is a incompetent, inept, provincially biased rugby dinosaur who is unfit to coach the Irish team.

I find it hard to get excited about world rankings to be honest.

I see the campaign is gone negative.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Haven't a clue.. I remember him saying something like that towards the end of his time with Leinster (can't find the article though). It was about manufacturing a dip in form in order to peak at the right time.

Tip (and it's almost as good a tip as "don't use a hair dryer in the bath)

Leave the comedy to Simon O'Keeffe..... :)

Hey. You're the one who decided dating a 95 year old woman was a good idea. I've no sympathy. ...

So, the revised ranking shows us dropping behind Australia back into 3rd place. However, even their promotion above England is small consolation for the Welsh (or the English) as they contemplate the Rankings in their Pool:
Australia - 2nd;
Wales 5th;
England 6th;
Fiji - 9th;
Uruguay - 19th.

Compared to the mid-teen rankings of Italy, Romania and Canada - all now with regular ranking games - it does clearly suggest a serious imbalance between the Pools.

For Ireland, the encouragement is huge. Respect the minnows, give them their due, but play teams strong enough to put big points on each of them. France will be a dog-fight either way and looking at last 4 results against them, (D, D, W, W), it could come down to points differance to head the Pool - the cumulative Points Differance in past four years is negligable

So pressure off then. Nobody will be expecting the 6th ranked team to win the RWC. :wink:

If the IRB rankings operated in real time (instead of weekly) Georgia would have briefly into world top 10 ahead of Fiji yesterday for about 45 minutes.

However, Japan quickly restored the order and moved ahead of Scotland into 9th place. Rankings are looking pretty accurate now all countries playing regular games and many involving top tier

South Africa down to 6th after their debacle.

England 3rd and Wales 4th ahead of us because of warmup wins
