So with us only getting 8 votes it looks like neither Wales or Scotland backed us. Thanks lads!

Would those 8 votes include 3 from ourselves?

Neither ourselves, France or SA were allowed to vote.

Does beg the question what's the point of a technical report/recommendation if it's just going to be ignored anyway.

World Rugby directed that every RWC moving forward must have all stadiums inside the host nation (or in the case of the IRFU, Union catchment area)

We had no choice, this is why World Rugby negotiated with the IRFU and WRU to drop the 20% RWC fee owed to Wales: it wasn't our fault we couldn't host 4-5 matches in Cardiff.
do you think the truth or reason would stop the Welsh from being bitter with us of all people?
Absolutely not, I've already had a friendly (read: unfriendly) conversation (read: argument) about it on Twitter (Read: Propaganda in 280 characters) with a Welshman (read: w&%ker) - just pointing out that it's not our fault we didn't ask, we couldn't.

Do we know where our votes came from?

I'm assuming it was 3 from England, 3 either Wales/Scotland, 1 from USA and 1 from somehwere else or have I missed the details being released?

It points out the fact that the technical report/recommendation in this case was an absolute farce. Generating the pretence of transparency and rectitude was the point of that particular report.

Apparently Philip Browne just said SRU and WRU both voted for RSA

We should seriously look at an Anglo Irish league and let the Scots and Welsh rot.

There's only going to be three other hosts in between two French world cups. Absolutely absurd. A 16-year gap between the same country hosting the sport's flagship event is an insult to all other rugby nations.

IRFU have two Reps on World Rugby, one of them a very long term member. They should fall on their swords that they have only been able to gather 8 votes in this contest. Time to appoint people with ability, not reputations of popularity.

Hosting a World Cup is business, not sport or a past-time. We were represented by amateurs, or "rugby heads", not the sort of hard heads who win international contracts e.g. Execs of Kerry Group, CRH, Smurfit, IDA.

If we want to play at the top table in anything, we have to pick the right team, not amateurs.
