Also worth noting that Gatland has lost the last 7 (maybe to Australia, including 4 times last year.
Yeah that is a worry but also a motivation. Will be interesting to see Oz show their hand on Saturday morning as I think they must win the 1st test. Gatland will never have a team like this to get a win against OZ again unless of course he ends up being the next NZ coach which a succesful Lions tour would almost assure him of being talked about seriosly in those terms
Could that be why he didn't take Joe?
Bet ye he thought about! Didn't want to let Joe get any credit if things worked out. Only speculation but guarantee it crossed his mind

Queue two grand slams and at least a semin-final finish at RWC 2015 by Ireland under Joe who then takes on the Lions ticket for the tour to NZ in 2017 and promptly records the first series win by the lions in NZ for the guts of 50 years over a Gatty coached NZ side.
(ps BOD as back coach on said 2017 tour and SOB as captain scoring the winning test try just to rub salt in on Gatty)

lions won't make any difference to gatland's prospects. ask graham henry.
as much as i want this win i am worried that he is making the same mistake he made with wales against the wallabies. croft at 6 concerns me, and lydiate as replacement worries me more - gatland is limited in personnel capable of carrying effectively in traffic.
wallabies will win a wide open pacy game. we absolutely need jamie to play a blinder.
Declan Kidney is a incompetent, inept, provincially biased rugby dinosaur who is unfit to coach the Irish team.

Definitely my only concern - no maybes about it, just delete the word "serious".

Gatland, you under estimated the Aussie set piece. Fix that please.
There needs to be changes(in the 23) for next week as in fairness Australia blew that at the end.
From a purely parochial pov I thought Jamie and Poc were immense for the whole game whilst JS(2nd half in particular) and Bod were very good.
Some very strange calls by the referee as well I thought....
No argument here......I hate that classless shoite. It drew a lot of laughs here with the people I was watching with but I thought it was really unnecessary. Really took a lot of gloss off what was a cracking try...

Changes particularly needed on the bench...front row seriously suffered when replacements came on and if the Lions had gone behind there didn't seem to be anyone capable of saving the game.
Heaslip really proved his worth even if the Sky commentators don't rate him!
What was with the forward pass leading to that Aussie try...it went backward first but went 2 or 3 feet forward anyway??

Wow, that was far too close for comfort. Lions did their best to lose that. Some of Gatland's decisions very poor, brought off Adam Jones far too early and the game was crying out for the impact Seanie would have made.
Jamie had to do the work of three men at the breakdown today as Warburton and Croft offered nothing in that regard or in terms of ball carrying either.

TBF one of them(Barnes or Harrison, can't remember which did state near the end that he had a great game. Re the forward pass(and I stand to be corrected on this)...once the ball leaves the hand(s) of the passing player backwards then it doesn't matter if it then goes forward?
