If that meant that he signed up until the World Cup then I'd take it. Actually, not the autumn, would want him for that and then he could start Lions duty.

Yeah worthwhile payoff, plus think he'd feel obliged to take us to RWC

Kissy would be decent sub but that screws Ulster a bit

Reckon Tony Foley would be free round about the right time frame.

Will Wales' decimation by NZ adversely affect the Great Gatties chances of a third Lions gig.

If Joe is going back to NZ in 2017 (to coach Highlanders) theres no one else

If Joe is not, then youd imagine its Joes if he wants it

One thing though is Gatty is undoing any hope of a job back home above NPC level

Eddie Jones, speaking this morning on 5 Live Sportsweek, said emphatically that he would not be interested in taking the Lions to NZ, as he "is committed to getting England to No 1 in the world".

Good news for Joe who is proving, yet again, that he is a tactical and motivational genius.

Don't think it will be Joe for the Lions. We know he's sticking around for the 2016/17 season for Ireland, and the Highlanders have Tony Brown contracted as coach for the 2017 Super Rugby season, so presumably if Joe leaves he'll take over at the Highlanders for the 2018 Super Rugby season.

Newspapers have said Joe has a gentleman's agreement with the IRFU that he won't take the Lions job if he leaves after the 2016/17 season, because it requires him to miss the 2017 Six Nations and potentially the 2016 AIs as well.

So the only way Joe will take the Lions job is if he extends his contract with Ireland up to the 2019 RWC.

Didn't he say exactly that before getting the England job?

That last bit.
That's the carrot. A win in SA next week might help.
Joe may not decide until after the AIs and those two matches v NZ.

Dress rehearsal isn't going too well in that case. Just can't see how 2-3 players from Ireland and England will get that Wales side across the line vs the All Brands.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
England A 8 - 14 Ireland A, 25th Jan 2014
Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles

Dont think even Gatty that dumb/blinkered to go Welsh heavy

Only players in the mix for test team are Warburton, Faletau, Webb, and maybe 1/2p

Liam Williams, George North, Jamie Roberts (not great on this tour admittedly) and Alun Wyn Jones would surely be in the mix? Maybe Biggar too, depending on how others are performing

Stop messing Morf :P

L Williams wont make the test side ahead of 1/2p and therell be better actual winners. Wildcard for tour

North yes

AWJ is behind the 2 English locks and offers nothing off the bench (unlike Henderson). He might be a midweek captain

Biggar is behind Sexton and Farrell

Roberts has no hands or wheels. Even if Gatty wants an old fashioned 12 Henshaw offers way more. He wants a 2nd 5/8 then Farrell also head

Welsh/Gatty trying to play rugby at the moment, not attempting ten man stuff

Gatland gets the Lions job only if Schmidt, Jones and Cotter turn it down.

Tipuric has more chance of bringing dinosaurs back to life than making the Lions test side
