Surprised not more said about the alleged gouging claim by Fraser Brown. TV showed no connection with Brown's eye by Roux - at worst his hand brushed against his cheekbone. We all accept that eye gouging is probably one of the worst foul plays when proven and usually ends up with a very heavy suspension (unless you're Schalk Burger trying to take Luke Fitz's eye out).

For that reason, if there is no evidence of gouging - and Carley said to Hogg that it would be for somebody else to take a further look - then should action be taken against Brown for accusing an Irish player of one of the worst bits of foul play imaginable. If not, there'll be vague suspicions of "no smoke without fire" and Scots will say that an experienced international like Brown wouldn't make such a serious claim unless he really believed he was gouged. Roux's reputation gets tarnished by Brown walks away scot free - stinks.

Can't give you an exact time but was well into second half I think

Either I can't make any semblance of a defensive structure for Ireland or the players are unsure of it. The patterns in defense throughout the game changed so often, up and drift, drift, 2 up and 2 shadow. There just seemed to be so many moments, where if Scotland off quick ball had have seen the dis-organisation they could have made much better use of the space. Somewhere around the 10 min mark, Scotland were just outside their own 22 took about 7-8 seconds to pass out of the rook and our entire defensive line kept checking their own run and nearest team mate. Now Scotland didn't get far but we do not look like a well drilled side. It's hard to reconcile with Farrell being our defensive coach before moving to HC.

Pure conjecture here, but I think too much was made of the 'laid back' approach to cleanse the palate of the tyrannical rule of Joe. We play well when we know our job this Ireland team seems too chaotic.

I agree. Our defense in the first half in particular was absolutely all over the place, exceptionally poor. When you compare it to the defensive performances than England [under Mitchell] and France [under Edwards] have put in against us recently, it looks particularly bad.
