And we have two of them this time.

Just checked direct flights with Aer Lingus.

Going out Friday and coming back Sunday is €429.
Going out Thursday coming back Monday isn't much better at €333.

I haven't looked at accomadation but you can bet it would be crazy expensive cause Rome is pricey as hell at the best of times!!

Having been to all the 6 Nations away venues, Rome and Edinburgh are by far the two best destinations. But why oh why do the IRB insist (for the third time in a row) on having the two Ireland games there a week apart ...

I need more AFFFFluence!!!

You could go via London (a time waster I know) but Monday will be a bank holiday (since Paddies day falls on the Sat).

Rex Banner - got flights for EUR 225 return (see details on the other thread). . .flights at those prices are now gone :(

Accomodation

Post by Donny B. »

Actually just checked out some hotels on the internet

Saw one triple room for four nights for about €240 per person sharing

Not bad

I think if I was travelling I'd be more inclined to do a four-day trip cause it's an incredible city and there's plenty to do on the non-match days.

Also there would be a better chance of getting tickets for that game than the ones in Edinburgh or Cardiff.

We got our flights for €268 p/p out Friday AM back Tuesday PM with Aer Lingus.

We went over in 2003 and stayed in Hotel Pomezia and cost about €70 for the room. Hotel was pretty ordinary, but hotels in Italy are, the rooms are small etc, but it was extreamly central.

Try the official Scotland site They couldn't give them away last time, although after beating The English and the French there last year it may be a bit more difficult.

Tickets for the game in Rome were very easy to come by. There were actually more Irish than Italian fans.

Ryanair also fly to Rome, but they have not got their 07 winter flights on their website loaded yet. But no doubt they will jack up the prices for that weekend.

Where or how is the best way to get tickets for the Italian game.

5-years ago it was trawling every Irish bar and a few hotels looking for some bloke, eventually finding him in his hotel only to find out that he didn't have the tickets he was rumoured to have. We then went and bought tickets at the Stadio Flaminio ticket office on the Saturday morning.

This method also requires that the guy who actually got tickets in advance for your group leaves them in his car at Dublin Airport :|

Think they sell them on the Italian Federation's website closer to the game.

Got the Crowne Plaza in Rome for €113 per person sharing.

Flights with Lufthansa, about €250.

Try Aer Arann for flights to Cardiff, they just introduced a Dub-Cardiff service. Never done Rome for the rugby, looking forward to it.

Edinburgh is great but Cardiff in 2005 was brilliant, super rugby occassion with the Welsh going for the Grand Slam. Cardiff is kinda like what Dublin would be like if rugby was as popular as chavball!!!

Just had a look on their (Italian) website. Although they have the news about the games, there wasn't any info on when tickets go on sale. I guess as the games are next season, it'll be worth just checking back.

Rome is great, pizza, pasta, beer, icecream, coffee, sunshine, and the women! :D
