Holy Sheeet!!!
Great news for Northampton who will now win the Heineken Cup this year.

The league would be sh!t though with no fear of relegation.

Helps give them leverage over players to take a compromise deal.

I never thought of it like that. You're right though, any English teams remaining in the Heino would be virtually impossible to beat now that the "fear of relegation" was removed from around their necks.
There can be no debate about it.

What an easy way to fire a load of players cheaply.

Why not keep them all? They are getting relegated anyway

Possibly the most interesting thing is that any payments made to players to cut short a contract would be included in the salary cap.

Sounds like they're up sh!t creek without a paddle.

I would assume the same salary cap applies to the second division too..?

Firing people is expensive as you've to pay out on the remaining contracts. however, invoking the relegation clauses costs nothing. Do you think they care about being relegated if they can bounce straight back up?

Players have relegation clauses in their contracts I would assume.
If their playing in the lower league will thet still get picked for England?
£25K per game is a lot of cahooonaz for a rugby pro.

I mean keep them all for this season and win the HC. Or give it their best shot. Cause the prem is dead to them

How would this work. If Sarries are to be automatically relegated do they have to fulfil their fixtures? To what end? What about games that have already happened - what happens to match points other teams have gotten against them, have they played every team once, some once, some twice, some not at all? Are the other clubs happy to miss out on a matchday's revenue?

So many questions

Saracens have been told they will be relegated from the Premiership if they do not hand over their finances to an independent audit by Monday, my sources tell me.

From the Mail.
Saracens are facing the sensational prospect of automatic relegation from the Premiership after other clubs turned on them in light of the salary cap saga.
As anger towards Sarries reached boiling point it is understood unless they can prove within a week they will comply with the £7m cap this season the league holders stand to be sent down.
Sportsmail believes while a move to demote Saracens regardless of their points tally at the end of the season is not finalised it is increasingly likely as they are struggling to meet the salary limit again this campaign.
It is understood that two nasty options were presented to the disgraced English league and European Champions at a Premiership Rugby (PRL) meeting on Tuesday this week.
Sarries were seemingly told they either had to hand back their titles won in the three years they have been proven to have broken the cap, and let auditors fully investigate club finances, or face the drop to the Championship in June.
The suggestion is that the five-time domestic champions – who have already been docked 35 league points and fined £5.36m for cap breaches over the previous three seasons – could well accept the latter offer.
Since new Chief Executive Ed Griffiths arrived at the start of the month Saracens said they would take immediate steps to make sure they comply with the cap and were committed to following the rules.
However, one source told Sportsmail that Saracens have admitted to being 'way over' the cap this season and have swiftly realised that they cannot cut costs sufficiently quickly and comprehensively.
It is understood that a 'long list' of players available for transfers has been circulated to other clubs, but there has not been the required interest, partly because Saracens previously adopted a policy of cutting agents out of deals.
Sources have also indicated that a final decision would be taken with haste, and the Saracens squad will hold an emergency meeting at 8.30 Friday morning to consider the latest incredible twist in this sorry tale.

.
Why wouldn't clubs want to sign players because agents aren't collecting extra fees.

Is there an honest reason?
