I never thought of it like that. You're right though, any English teams remaining in the Heino would be virtually impossible to beat now that the "fear of relegation" was removed from around their necks.OTT wrote:Great news for Northampton who will now win the Heineken Cup this year.blockhead wrote:I was just about to post this.

Why not keep them all? They are getting relegated anywayribs wrote:What an easy way to fire a load of players cheaply.
I would assume the same salary cap applies to the second division too..?johng wrote:Why not keep them all? They are getting relegated anywayribs wrote:What an easy way to fire a load of players cheaply.
Players have relegation clauses in their contracts I would assume.johng wrote:Why not keep them all? They are getting relegated anywayribs wrote:What an easy way to fire a load of players cheaply.
The rest could vote to end relegation as soon as they go down.ribs wrote:Firing people is expensive as you've to pay out on the remaining contracts. however, invoking the relegation clauses costs nothing. Do you think they care about being relegated if they can bounce straight back up?
Nothing to lose when your former chairman is getting tired of his tarnished plaything
I mean keep them all for this season and win the HC. Or give it their best shot. Cause the prem is dead to themblockhead wrote:Players have relegation clauses in their contracts I would assume.johng wrote:Why not keep them all? If their playing in the lower league will thet still get picked for England?
£25K per game is a lot of cahooonaz for a rugby pro.
Yeah but then where would they get their battle hardening?blockhead wrote:The rest could vote to end relegation as soon as they go down.ribs wrote:Firing people is expensive as you've to pay out on the remaining contracts. however, invoking the relegation clauses costs nothing. Saracens are facing the sensational prospect of automatic relegation from the Premiership after other clubs turned on them in light of the salary cap saga.
As anger towards Sarries reached boiling point it is understood unless they can prove within a week they will comply with the £7m cap this season the league holders stand to be sent down.
Sportsmail believes while a move to demote Saracens regardless of their points tally at the end of the season is not finalised it is increasingly likely as they are struggling to meet the salary limit again this campaign.
It is understood that two nasty options were presented to the disgraced English league and European Champions at a Premiership Rugby (PRL) meeting on Tuesday this week.
Sarries were seemingly told they either had to hand back their titles won in the three years they have been proven to have broken the cap, and let auditors fully investigate club finances, or face the drop to the Championship in June.
The suggestion is that the five-time domestic champions – who have already been docked 35 league points and fined £5.36m for cap breaches over the previous three seasons – could well accept the latter offer.
Since new Chief Executive Ed Griffiths arrived at the start of the month Saracens said they would take immediate steps to make sure they comply with the cap and were committed to following the rules.
However, one source told Sportsmail that Saracens have admitted to being 'way over' the cap this season and have swiftly realised that they cannot cut costs sufficiently quickly and comprehensively.
It is understood that a 'long list' of players available for transfers has been circulated to other clubs, but there has not been the required interest, partly because Saracens previously adopted a policy of cutting agents out of deals.
Sources have also indicated that a final decision would be taken with haste, and the Saracens squad will hold an emergency meeting at 8.30 Friday morning to consider the latest incredible twist in this sorry tale.
Why wouldn't clubs want to sign players because agents aren't collecting extra fees.blockhead wrote:From the Mail.It is understood that a 'long list' of players available for transfers has been circulated to other clubs, but there has not been the required interest, partly because Saracens previously adopted a policy of cutting agents out of deals.
