For many years Munster and their fans engaged in endless self-praise and self-promotion about how strong their 'identity' was, their core of homegrown players, their connection to the fans, their pride and commitment to where they were from and their community etc; if you construct an image for yourself along 'pride and pashun' and identity lines, and endlessly waffle about it, then when you start taking in loads of players from other provinces and abroad, expect some blowback. Toughen up and stop calling people xenophobes for pointing out this obvious hypocrisy.

James Coughlan on his way to Brive as defence coach.
Delighted for him, and hope he does well and continues to improve his career as a coach.

He was a great player for Munster, and largely underrated outside of the province.
A real Cinderella story, playing in the AIL before being given a trial with Munster at 26 making 137 appearances (13 tries) for Munster and a further 69 (8 tries) for Pau.

Makes you wonder how many more James Coughlans there are, who develop late, but are never given the chance.

A squad of home grown players with an all star recruits a la Thorne, Elsom, Nacewa, Contepomi and the worlds best coaches seriously impressed by this set up is something to be very proud of in my humble opinion.

Not to mention, Jowitt, Gomez, Berquist, Carr, Hago, Knoop, Denton, Sykes, Goodman, Roux, Sideshow Bob, Tuqiri, T'eo, Kearney/Kinda, Triggs. That covers the 08-16 period.
