Sitting in work feeling like you have a hangover yet the last time you had a drink was a glass of white wine with dinner last Thursday week.

I had a big problem with that. You need to ring them. And while I generally hate all "Establishment" companies (which includes Eircom), I found them very helpful. They first off sent me a new modem which improved the speed, but then I ran into this disconnecting problem and the DSL thingy message, as you referenced.
Now I don't understand these technical details of information and communication systems, but from what I could understand from them, was that they are cranking up the broadband speed of everyones connections, but the wires coming into our house couldn't handle what they were trying to force down them, (or something like that). So they turned the speed down and it solved the problem.
I'm not sure if I have that correctly, but I know there's a few heads on here who know what they are talking about with this stuff, so maybe they might be able to expand on it. However, either way, you should give them a call.

Apparently some people watch those things in between the programmes on the telly, rather than pausing and fast forwarding through them or just old fashioned changing the channel.

Such is the frequency of certain ads that they get through the filters and not everyone can afford Sky Plus, Lord Muck!

I also hate when people don't give up their seat for old people. They look too shy to ask for the chair, but there's always a fat munter who sees the aul one getting on, and immediately looks out the window to pretend they can't see the person. I guess this is what happens when you take the peasant wagon.
