The South William/Fade St:
1- Peter's Pub
2- The South William
3- Grograns (the Castle Inn)
4- Pygmallion
5- The Lost Society (depends on timing)
6- Dakota (leave by the back door)

12- The Hairy Lemon

The Grafton St:

8- The Grafton Lounge
9- The Duke
10- Davy Byrnes
11- The Bailey
12- Porterhouse / Lillies (depending on taste/celebrity status)

Good list. Must find out where I put the dart crawl. Luas was interesting, particularly number 4, but too much walking compared to the dart. Agree about needing a good final destination or else your crowd won't move once they get comfortable. A prize giving at the end can be good fun. First year we tried to write a simple review of each pub - started sensibly but reading the later ones the next day was very funny.
...a beautiful weighted pass...it is 3 on 2...it is 3 on 1...Hickie!...Magnificent!

I think a key to a good night is to have a few rules for each pub such as certain nick names, standing on one leg, downing a drink, not being able to order using verbal english, conversation only in Irish, if you see the luas you have to run for the luas and get on it etc. and if you break the rules its a fine of a shot and or €1 the money fine goes into a pot which goes behind the bar of the last pub. It keeps the game going and can tot up petty quickly without really hurting your pocket.

A simple rule of if you see a pub sign, you have to have a pint in that pub, has led to some pretty funny nights out (admittedly, these nights out were in smaller towns/cities than Dublin :D )

Long time ago, we used to organise a pub crawl called The Crawl from Grace, where...

Left Hand Rule Applies - All drinks must be held in left hand at all times, anyone found not to be holding his or her drink in their left hand at all times is fined.

The Bier Führer is the only one who may administer this fine, which shall be at his/her discretion. No one may challenge a fellow drinker with holding drink in right hand, if they do then they are fined. All challenges must be directed through the Bier Führer and their decision is final.

If they do challange through the Bier Führer but their challange is found to be incorrect, then they are fined.

Fines were usually in the form of 3 fingers - drink the depth of three fingers down the side of glass.

I never made it past the Wellington. We always started lunch time, on the friday before Christmas. Half of us would order lunch in the Wellington, they do a mighty club sandwich. The other half would get impatient waiting and would head off to do the Haddington road leg of the journey. By the time they came back to pick us up Larry Murphys just seemed too far a walk

In one pub- Call the barman Guinness ie. “Pint of Heineken please Guinness”. If he serves you both you have to buy your pint and a pint of Guinness and drink both.
In another pub - No using, looking at, or touching phones (yours or anyone else's). Punishment: Must give up the power to send one free text message to anyone chosen by the group.

The Baggot Mile is the only one of the lists above that's properly workable in my view. All of the others involve going to venues that are more properly clubs (e.g. Coppers/Lost Society) or restaurants (e.g. Captain America's), or include boozers that are just plain rubbish (e.g. Sinnott's).

Did it last night... No talking in the international bar was the best rule. Bar staff loved it!

Also, between pubs, a call of shark attack from any member of the group means you have to get off the ground onto a pole, window sill or if you're really stuck - a taxi stopped at traffic lights. Last one on the ground has to down their next drink.
Saturday 23rd May 2009 - Number 1
Saturday 21st May 2011 - Brace
Saturday 19th May 2012 - Hatrick!

That is a great rule, so long as everyone is clear on what the call means and there are no Tracy Jordan moments.

There was a rule for the Daniel Day Luas crawl that when in the Barge you were allowed to go to the toilet but just not in the toilet. The rest of the pub and the outside of the pub was fair game. Needless to say that rule can lead to trouble!

Also another toilet based one is that all participants must in one of the venues order their drink and then proceed immediately to the toilet where the entire crawl must muster to down drinks together in the same cubicle.
