2 rounds of league gone.
We've started very well in 2A. Top and first league win over Cashel as well.

Any thoughts on AIL so far?
Have seen games in 4 of the 5 divisions so far.
UCD struggling so far and Trinity doing very well. Surprised at both of their results so far...

Cork Con 50 UCD 25. Con v impressive.
Best UCD Player was their No. 12, Tommy O'Brien. Serious gas & took his try well.

The top 4 looks nailed down but the relegation scrap should produce some interesting clashes. UCD & Trinity are probably just about safe so it is between:FrankBurke wrote:Cork Con 50 UCD 25. Con v impressive.

Marys 31pts
Garryowen 29
Terenure 28
Old Belvedere 25
Belvo look to be in serious trouble with Lansdowne and Young Munster to play (both at home). Must win against Garryowen away on the 8th of April but it may not be enough.
It will be interesting to see the impact of the returning under 20 internationals with Marys getting Larmour and Doris back. They should be safe.
At the top Lansdowne will have Boyle, McElroy, Dowling & Greg McGrath back from the 20s which will help in the play offs.

14:30 Clontarf v Young Munster Castle Avenue
14:30 Cork Constitution v Garryowen Temple Hill
14:30 Dublin University v St Mary's College College Park
14:30 Old Belvedere v Lansdowne Anglesea Road

Exactly - four good home games for Dublin clubs as we get towards climax of season - and they all clash with Leinster Cardiff match!

Not so sure the top 4 is completely nailed on.Young Munster could be caught depending on this Saturday but have three tough games ahead and could lose all 3 giving UCD an outside chanceEl Diablo wrote:The top 4 looks nailed down but the relegation scrap should produce some interesting clashes. Young Munster will certainly be in trouble if they dont find a kicker. He missed 5 kicks against Trinity 2 weeks ago!Leoslovechild wrote:El Diablo wrote:The top 4 looks nailed down but the relegation scrap should produce some interesting clashes. Lansdowne 53
Cork Constitution 51
Young Munster 49
Clontarf 48
UCD 38
St Mary's College 36
Dublin University 35
Terenure College 30
Garryowen 30
Old Belvedere 27
Massive result for Old Belvo yday with a draw against Lansdowwne. If they can get a win on the 8th of April away to Garryowen, they could get ahead of Garryowen and Terenure (Lansdowne at home next up) heading into the last weekend. Trinity still need points to be safe after a poor performance yday. The will need to improve massively to beat UCD on Friday 7th.

Re: All Ireland League - Thread
Still lots to play for ahead in all divisions
1A top 4 is decided but order can completely change while Belvedere are relegated, Any of Trinity, Garryowen, Terenure and Marys all could go into the playoffs with 2nd, 3rd, 4th from 1B.
Buccs have won 1B. Bohs, Naas and Wesley or UCC will be in promotion playoffs.
Galwegians are either automatically relegated or in playoffs with 2A sides. Dolphin are currently 9th and can catch Ballymena.
2A will be won by Banbridge. Highfield will finish 2nd. Nenagh and Malone will finish 3rd and 4th.
Belfast Harlequins relegated to 2B. Sundays Well will finish 9th and go into playoffs.
2B Greystones and Armagh will finish 1st and 2nd. Wanderers and Crescent will be in promotion playoffs but order to be decided,
Thomond are relegated to 2C. Skerries are 9th but are only 2 points behind City of Derry and Bective
Navan and Sligo are 1st and 2nd. Sligo can catch Navan but considering their opponents in last round Navan should win title. Rainey will finish 3rd and Tullamore 4th.
Kanturk are bottom on 22. Boyne 25 points.
Malahide promoted to senior. Winner of Omagh and Clonmel will face whichever of Kanturk/Boyne finish 15th in 2C

Very tight at the bottom of Div 1A to decide who goes into the playoff:ormond lad wrote:Still lots to play for ahead in all divisions

Marys 36 points -58 points diff
Terenure 35 points -40 points diff
Garryowen 35 points -94 points diff
Trinity 35 points -100 points diff
Lansdowne v Garryowen...should be a great battle with a lot to play for for both sides. Probably depends which Lansdowne team turns up on the day.
Cork Con v Marys...Marys virtually safe
Trinity v Terenure......2 wins and a draw for Nure in the last 3 will mean they will be confidant against a Trinity team that have looked good at times but make too many mistakes. Should be a cracker in College Park. No doubt Nure will bring a raucous crowd with them. The tourists wont know what the hell is going on!
It could even come down to a losing BP or even points difference between Garryowen and Trinity. Trinity hasn't had a losing BP all season but they could do with one on Saturday if it comes down to it. Every game on Saturday has a lot at stake.

Re: All Ireland League - Thread
Terenure have been on a great run since Christmas and Coach James Blaney has done a fine job of resurrection. Barring the result against St Mary's they have been competitive against every team and got an excellent away win against Clontarf and in last Saturday's performance against Lansdowne, they started like a train and finished the same way scoring 5 tries against the leaders. Certainly seem to have the momentum with them and are playing expansive rugby with a great back-row. Very impressive coaching.

Re: All Ireland League - Thread
Hard to fathom the absence of AIL coverage this weekend from Indo & IT. In Div 1a, every game is relevant with top three level on points and 4th only a point behind. At the bottom, three teams on same points and 6th placed team could also get mired in relegation playoff.
If only to cater for their hardcore rugby support you would have thought that both papers might have produced more that kick-off times. Maybe Examiner has somecoverage of Con's game against Marys?

Won't be convinced Mary's are safe. They need something from Cork to be sure. Losing bonus in Trinity v Nure and for G'owen could be dangerous.El Diablo wrote:Very tight at the bottom of Div 1A to decide who goes into the playoff:ormond lad wrote:Still lots to play for ahead in all divisions

What an afternoon. Garryowen beaten 40-17. St Marys beaten by Con 34-27 but losing bonus & 4 try bonus. Trinity beat Terenure with length of field last move try to get four try bonus point win. Terenure however hold onto losing bonus point. Munsters beat Old Belvo. Tarf beat UCD.
BELVO relegated. Garryowen play-off. Lansdowne 1st, - uncertainty re 2nd 3rd & 4th.
Good competitive league with improving standard of rugby.
D6W derbies still on for next Season
