6 schoolboys in the Munster side. Has their s&c improved dramatically or are they scraping the bottom of the barrel?

Why would Dardis be held back if he's been playing for Leinster?

Because he has been playing for Leinster? Can't remember a 2nd year academy player ever playing underage. Leavy didn't last year and he was healthy and playing for Leinster.

It's pretty rare for players to play two-years in-a-row at U-20 level for Leinster, even more so when they've featured in the Ireland U-20 squads. The likes of Ross Byrne, Nick McCarthy and Garry Ringrose not featuring either.

No. He's not playing as he already has played Irish 20s and by not playing it opens up the door for others to push for irish squad inclusion etc

Their club isn't listed yet. All who play under 20 interpros in Munster and Leinster will be in 3rd level and not in school

Fair enough, thanks. My question was more in the context of those guys also being at the World Cup, thought it was that involvement that was keeping them out of this game and that they might have been behind Dardis in terms of pre season.

Edit: and also the fact that Brewer is starting seems odd in the context of what has been said above.

Brewer didn't play in last year's interpro's unlike Dardis. Dardis was heavily involved with Leinster preseason so I'd assume he wasn't training with 20's squad. Brewer was not.

Ah I figured his Ireland involvement would have counted for more. Thanks.

Awful lot of talent in that Leinster midfield with Harry Brewer, Conor O'Brien and Fergal Cleary on the bench. O'Brien is U19 this year, isn't he?

yeah he is. Cleary not starting at 10 is odd, thought they'd fit him there even if he isn't the most natural 10.
Not to mention Ringrose is still eligible for u20's although obviously not involved.

Big centre pairing too.. 6'4 and probably 6'2-6'3 Cleary is more smaller at 5'10ish..

Didn't realise that O'Brien was that tall. Haven't seen an awful lot of him [only two games] but on both occasions was impressed. I've heard a lot of good things about him from someone whose knowledge I'd trust as well.

This year's U20 group was ridiculously dominant as Leinster U18 Schools two seasons ago, and were spoken of by a good few in the branch as the most talented Leinster Schools team they'd ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a real bulge in the Leinster professional ranks from this group, much as there is/was in Ulster from their players born in 1984-85: Bowe, Trimble, Ferris, Henry, Paul Marshall, Ryan Caldwell, Lewis Stevenson, John Andress, Gareth Steenson.

He looked that tall to me when i saw him against Oz, probably closer to 6'2.

Usually about 7-8 players from each year make it to the academy, 1995 already has 5 players(McCarthy, Byrne, Brewer, Ringrose, Dardis)
Strong candidates to join them are Loughman, Heffernan, Murphy, Timoney, Cleary & O'Donoghue.

Leinster U20 vs Munster U20 match reports:

Leinster: http://www.leinsterrugby.ie/domestic/12 ... AqgOEt2PwI
Munster: http://www.munsterrugby.ie/news/18988.php#.VAqgxEt2PwI

Sounds like a pretty handsome win for the lads in Ashbourne. They've scored at least four tries in all their games thus far this season [64-10 vs Exiles, 48-7 vs Leicester Academy and 43-10 vs Italy U20s].
