Was in DB earlier this evening, standing outside the SPAR with two other people and FIVE canvassers for FG walked past and not one stopped to talk to us...thought it was quite odd.

That's down there with paedophile.
This will be my 10th general election, and NEVER, EVER, have I even considered voting FF
I'd sooner vote for Gerry Adams! And I don't say that lightly.

Re: Leinsterfans.com Election Poll
Not sure who to vote for yet.
SF - definitely ruling them out
Greens - see above
FF - local TD is a really good guy who's helped us out in the past, but he's in FF
Labour - don't trust them to make the decisions needed to get us back on track at all. The thought of Joan Burton in a position of power is truly frightening
FG - Am leaning towards them but it feels like I'm basically voting for the FG/Lab coalition, and I don't want Labour in Govt
Ind - no decent ones in my constituency

Re: Leinsterfans.com Election Poll
I despair! No wonder the country is f**ked. You are voting for the people that have to run the WHOLE country - you are not voting for your county councilor here. Since Irish government is run by political PARTIES (even though the Constitution didn't envisage it), perhaps look at policies first and whether you'd like to have a pint with them second.Danthefan wrote:Not sure who to vote for yet.

Andrews: a name with no known achievements attached to it.
Andrews: I'll get your drive done by the council.

Re: Leinsterfans.com Election Poll
He can like him as much as pleases him. The point is that he shouldn't vote someone to the national parliament on the basis of sorting local issues. That's what the local elections and local councils are for.Darce wrote:So he's not to like a guy who's helped out him and or his family in the past??ribs wrote:I despair! If the FF candidate has some ideas for the national parliament and for solving national issues that Danthefan finds appealing then he should consider voting for him irrespective of party.
If a local guy can fix my potholes then I'd rather keep him concentrating on fixing potholes than on holes in the economy.
The county council is not supposed to be a training ground for the national parliament. It's supposed to be a place to focus on local issues so that national parliamentarians don't have to waste their time doing so.

Not necessarily. Apart from being corrupt and inept, arrogance is a trait that stems from a sense of entitlement.

Not really. They delivered a budget proposal before the budget. This is forming part of their election manifesto. All the parties will deliver the same.sheepshagger wrote:

Personally I think next year will be the worst of the recession by far especially if the "growth" forecasts are to be believed... austerity can only get you so far
