Kit sponsor
Hey, does anyone know when the current kit deal is up?
I've seen the Leinster players wearing a lot of 'Nike' stuff recently,
I wonder if they're trying to move in for a kit sponsorship...

I think Nike just make specialist GPS tracking/monitoring vests they wear over the usual CCC garb. Not sure how pushed on rugby Nike are anymore they lost France and England who must be the biggest by far in terms of kits so don't see them making a move on us.papachino wrote:Hey, does anyone know when the current kit deal is up?

I'd say adidas would be a more likely suitor when the time comes. So long as it's not puma, their kit has been getting progressively worse in terms of quality and looks for Ireland since they got the gig.

Wouldn't mind Kukri, quite like their stuff (Ulsters 3rd choice this season apart).

I have some Maltese kit by Kukri and I have to say that the quality is top notch.
The current deal with CCC/JD Sports ends in August btw.

Marta was watching the game with me when she said, "You know, most of these sports are based on the idea of one group protecting its territory from invasion by another group." "Yeah," I said, trying not to laugh. Girls are funny.

Am sure Canterburys new owner (Pentland) will be keen to hold on to a team like Leinster, they bought CCC (and its debt) for £1 in September.

Puma to end Ireland deal early
Puma have prematurely cancelled Irish rugby's five-year kit deal. The German sportswear brand took the decision in December, four seasons into a lucrative multi-million euro contract.
This will be officially confirmed after this afternoon's IRFU committee meeting and means the union must find a new kit sponsor before the November 2013 internationals.
Puma have explained their decision to leave the Irish market as “strategic”.
Several Irish players - including current national captain Jamie Heaslip, Tommy Bowe and Luke Fitzgerald - were on five-figure boot deals, which also ended in 2012.

Re: Kit sponsor
I'm not shocked. i'd say they were severly disappinted at sales but in all honesty they can't blame anyone but themsleves. I picked up one of two pieces for a song (RWC test jersey €20, gym shorts €15) and they are terrible quality products before you even get down to whether people actually liked the design/colour etc. at the very least you'd expect the gear to be of decent and comparable quality to CCC/Nike/Adidas.Donny B. wrote:'Strategic' translates as "you little pixie-heads ist broke"...

Back to CCC hopefully. They've upped their game considerably in the last couple of seasons.Mauler wrote:Puma to end Ireland deal early

Look out Itchy, he's Irish
Re: Kit sponsor
Wouldn't mind seeing O'Neills get the deal (nice shirts and an Irish brand). Probably can't compete with the likes of Nike/Adidas/CCC though. Rugbytech can make a nice shirt too every now and then.

''The German sportswear brand took the decision in December,''
What pric&s Puma are - I know people who bought kit for kids for Christmas and will have to shell out again when a new supplier comes in. If the IRFU knew of Puma's intentions back in December then they are no worse.
Have to say I am happy they are gone. Never liked their stuff and did not buy any of it. Hopefully this means no deal with Leinster too.
