Seemed to get him right in the solar plexus and he wasn't expecting the punch either. Anyone know the rules on punching towards the torso or is it treated as a straight closed fist punch irrespective of where?

Sadly the acting skills of the soccer players is starting to move in to rugby. Gone is the time where hitting the deck would be seen as a weakness.

It was very unlike sob, the occasion got to him. It happens the best.
If he had kept his hand open he would have been fine.

So so proud of that performance...

There was a time when Madigan would not have nailed the first two pens... There was a time when Earls would have retreated into his shell after a mistake like that... There was a time when we would have lost patience in our phase play and given possession back to the opposition with thoughtless kicking... A time when the emotions would have led to a shed-load of penalties.

We have matured so much when it comes to the big games.

France's superior physicality dissipated by the minute and their confidence in defence through to half time just disappeared because we were so confident in recycling and starving them of possession. Did they even get one chance to hit bastareud on a one on one crash ball situation? We increased our intensity as it wore on and they couldn't maintain theirs... Picamoles was rattled beyond belief half through the second half - body language awful.

Next week will be different... Argies won't fold the way France did.
