Reason I ask is just a small thing but about few minutes before full time, just before the 2nd YC for Italy one of the Italian players was having a go at an isolated player.
Out of nowhere Ryan appeared and warned the Italian off.
A good bit of off the ball unseen work.

came back last season and looked off the pace athletically.

Wales 20s beat England 11-10. Could have a decider in North Wales on Fri Mar 15. France got a BP win over the Scots 42-27

Good win. 9, 10 and 12 are classy players who make the team tick. I like the quick pace they play at, it tests their skills but the whole team look comfortable on the ball. Wycherley needs to work on his handling but generally the skills are very good.


It was a bit of an odd game. Very stop start with long periods between play and a few mistakes disrupted Ireland's flow. I don't think the wingers got any ball in space to attack.


I thought Penny was outstanding again. He has some try scoring record! His short height combined with his speed is an advantage near the line. BOD was similar and Casey made it count by burrowing over twice.


Byrne put in some great kicks. He has a long kick which is a good weapon to have when you consider how hard teams have to work for every meter gained. Casey's kicking was also superb and his passing is Stronger like. Only my second time seeing Hawkshaw but he looks like a Matt Giteau type of player.


So with Wales beating England it might come down to the final weekend. France are still in it. 2 tough games to come.

Pro rugby yes.. really like what I've seen of him at 12.

I didn't see the whole game but Hawkshaw reminds me of Leavy at a similar age, all the talent in the world but needs to get more involved and dominate physically. He seems to hover around the action at times rather than being in the thick of it, whereas Turner seems like a man possessed trying to make an impact. Hawkshaw's defence needs a lot of work, don't think it's a coincidence that Italy looked threatening down his channel, his tackle technique really isn't good, he goes way too high and often just grabs at the player and drags them down instead of putting his shoulder in. Also think he takes too much out of the ball at times instead of giving the simple pass at the right time.

Really impressed with Harry Byrne again, he has a huge boot and his passing in traffic is really snappy. It's probably stupid to compare him with his brother but it's hard not to. Ross' passes can sort of float into the space, whereas Harry's passes get fired into it and really encourage the runner onto them.

Scrumhalves are supposed to be annoying but I'm not sure I've ever hated a scrumhalf on my own team before I say that as a compliment, Casey is a brilliant player but he was winding up the opposition so much that it even bugged me and I can already picture him riling Leinster up in Thomond or the Aviva! The way he tried to put the opposition hooker off at lineout time was making my teeth itch. Clearly a very determined guy and a brilliant talent, hope he kicks on for Munster, could be a great impact sub for Nick next season.
