If two teams finish level on points in the same group it's the result in their head-to-head match that counts. Points difference only counts if three teams or more are level on points.Ruckedtobits wrote:But..... we could go through, if England keep going. Ouch, I forgot the head-to-head rule. Anyway, their Captain and Flanker scored their 4th try in the 76th minute and we're out of contention. 56-26 for Eng at present.cormac wrote:If two teams finish level on points in the same group it's the result in their head-to-head match that counts. Looks like we'll be ranked 6th at the end of the pool stages and will play England again on Monday.

Still a very good side. That front 5 must be the envy of all other sides at the moment. Serious engine room.mildlyinterested wrote:Possible XV for England game given yesterdays injuries:

The spine of the team is largely intact which is a miracle given the injuries
I fancy taking on England again. They are a poorly coached team IMO. Incredibly skillful and powerful but with no smarts to back it up. We have seen it in the previous 2 meetings. Keep the pressure on. Play smart rugby and they can't cope

Its hard to argue that the back row plus 12 / 14 are very inexperienced (Murray caps are all at 2nd row I think). Hopefully its their time to shine. The Ireland U-20s have been dealt a further double injury blow as Ciarán Booth and David McCann have both returned home from the World Cup in Argentina.

Re: Ireland u20 2018-2019
Baird at 6 (he played a lot of last game there) is interesting. Have Wycherly and Clarkson been benched to give opportunity to the reserves or because the management view that they may be running on empty.
Given how many injuries they have shipped, they are doing well to put out a team like that. How many different center partners has Turner played with this year. Is Ryan the 5 or 6th?

Hawkshaw, French, Moore, Foley and now Ryan have all started at 12.
Turner himself has moved to 12 and had Kernohan at 13 during this tournament.

He may also have played 12 with LaGrue at 13 in one of the warm-up games. He certainly has shown his resilience as well as his skills during this Season. That's another of the 'imponderables' that the Academy Directors looks for in his candidates and its an invaluable attribute. Think Reid compared to many of hismildlyinterested wrote:TrapperChamonix wrote:Baird at 6 (he played a lot of last game there) is interesting. I think Turner has played 80 minutes in all 8 of his caps.

Rosario hosting all the games from now on (2 stadia), both early games currently suspended due to the T&L.
Wales v NZ has restarted. Ireland game still at 7:30pm. The 2 SF now at 5:30pm and 7:45pm.

Ireland are playing on a bog tonight. Probably lots of scrums but it might suit Healy.
Re: Ireland u20 2018-2019
Frustrating game. They seem to lose the plot when England get a man sin binned.
Lose to NZ and we could be in with Australia and England again next year.

Re: Ireland u20 2018-2019
Considering just how many players were missing, the fact that the game resides in the "one that got away" pile demonstrates the standard of this years crop
