Ireland Pool 2019 RWC

Post by Oldschool »

Thought I'd open a thread for Ireland's pool.
Ireland, Scotland, Japan, Samoa and Russia.
To finish in the above order.
First up Japan v Russia.
Japan to get BP win.
Russia to get nathin'.

Yeah, Russia making my starting post looking way off the mark.
I don't know who the Russian coach is but Russia look well coached and fit.
Lyn Jones, Neath flank forward.

I think the nerves got to Japan. Should be much better in the second half now they have a lead. I can’t see Russia scoring twice more

We're already missing 3 starters in the outside backs.

They have 3 Lions in the back 3.

This is an experienced and strong Scottish team. Nervous times.

Late out of bed....nearly missed it.
This really could go either way. You never know against the scots.
Could be 15 up at HT, down the same points or 3-3.

Can only hope and trust in the lads and Joe. Both sides look fairly calm.
Only thing left to say...…

Holy hell, where did that come from?
Apart from the technical problems, couldn't ask for a better start.
Some real statements of intent out there.
Larmour excellent under the high ball, so far. James Ryan, Hendo, excellent. Delighted for Rory, although that looked like a rub of the green from Mr Barnes.
Keep it going lads

YESSSSSS!!!!!!!
Brilliant from Conway to force the scrum.
Excellent drive from CJ and a great finish from Tadhg. A bit worrying to see Johnny down again, looks like a groin problem.
Lenihan on commentary makes a very valid point. Scotland were 30 down against Eng and came right back

Good to see all the players there were doubts about playing well so far - Murray, Larmour, Stander, Best, Ringrose all playing well.

Oh that looks bad for Hamish Watson.
The clearout from Cian and Furlong looks ok, but that's gotta hurt for Watson. Hope he's ok.
On another note, the director likes his slow motion replays.

Yeah, Scotland can score three times very quickly. We’re a long way from relaxing yet

This is proving pretty attritional. POM and Aki obviously off but Sexton looks like he’s minding his leg too

Pity about all the breaks in play, Scotland looked out on their feet.

Absolutely. They've all stood up. Delighted for Rory specially, he copped a lot of flak recently.

Excellent first half. Could have done with those 5 points from kicks but it should help to keep them focussed.
With the rain starting the second half could become a lottery

Probably left 12 points out there and really looking very positive. First two line-out calls to PO'M at 2 & 6 were superb and very decisive and will keep Scotland worried about our line-out.

We're finding big space along their right touchline and Murray & Stockdale have been great going forward.

Thus far we've won the tactical battle, the defensive battle, the physical confrontation and the emotional crisis (losing Watson). Our Subs have been fantastic and that will be a good changing room to be in at h-t.

But,,,,,,,,,,,, it's not done yet. Scotland have been terrible and will believe they can get at least 14 points back quickly, so we must focus on defence in their half.

Great work from Conway :happy clapper:
Very alert response from Larmour to catch and move the ball to Conway quickly.
Pity about the missed conversion.

Yes back to his best. Even with the extra man they're not getting much change from our defence.
Great lineout steal from Ryan.
Cmon close it out
