Awful to listen to him and the woman commentating alongside him.
'The woman'?That'll be Fiona Couglan, former Irish captain, to you. But I agree about Nugent.
Couldn't remember her surname at the time but the pair of them are terrible. Although Nugent is toxic.

Just looking at the stats. How the penalty count was 12-9 against us beyond me. That ref (and assistants) was really not at the races.

Porter and Bent missed three tackles each. I haven't rewatched the game, but that would suggest Treviso identified and exploited some part of our defensive system involving the tighthead props (I don't remember us being sloppy at the pillars though). Hopefully, whatever it is will be fixed.

If the ARs hadnt made their contributions to the decision making in this match, the Referee would have missed everything... he was really poor , and the delay with even the most obvious decisions were proof that he was getting a call from the sidelines

Re-watching it, some of the reffing was atrocious. The pen on 55 mins he gave to them was ridiculous!

Was that the one with the lad kneeling on the ground trying to pilfer the ball?

That one was definitely the AR's fault though.

Comical reffing throughout.....hope there was a very long review session for him. He not only missed so many things but also seemed to lack the confidence on several occasions just to make a decision and was looking about for someone else to do it for him......bad day at the office but hopefully a learning lesson for him.

I prefer this. The ref constantly went to the ARs to confirm his decision before blowing up. Yes it took a few seconds but it resulted in the right call. The penalty on 55 was when he didn't check with the ARs.
...a beautiful weighted pass...it is 3 on 2...it is 3 on 1...Hickie!...Magnificent!

Yes, but in that instance even though it was apparent to us in the Grandstand that the Treviso player’s elbows were on the ground the AR did not raise his flag so he was complicit in the Ref’s wrong decision and, in fact, was largely responsible as the Ref was on the other side of the ruck.

Knees. Elbows. Hands. Toes. There was enough of him on the ground to make a Bavarian folk dance

Just a Technicality ... But the AR will only put up his flag for foul play - But they are miked up with the ref , so all he has to do is say it to him
